"Quadrige"

Lancia D50 from 1954
1574 Brass nails

Quadrige -  Kind of ancient chariot mounted on two wheels, harnessed by four horses arranged abreast, used as a ceremonial vehicle, then for races.

After the Second World War Lancia engaged in an unprecedented assault on the tracks, with highly advanced racing cars.

The D50 is an exceptionally compact racer, with all weight concentrated between the wheels and a very low centre of gravity.

One of the most unusual features of the D50 were the fuel and oil tanks, which were mounted in two big panniers between the wheels.

Size :  L 192cm / W 75cm / H 50cm

The body work is made of ash and the nails are of brass. The cockpit is covered with a swamp oak, walnut and a zebrano veener.

The wheels and tires are made of lime wood. The steering wheel is made of steel, brass and aluminium. The exhaust pipe is made of steel.
