Cyclope - Monstrous giant with only one eye in the middle of its forehead.
In 1954, the W 196 marked the return of Mercedes-Benz to the world of single-seaters after a long absence.
Perpetuating the myth of the Silver Arrows, the Mercedes-Benz W196 won its very first GP in Reims with Juan Manuel Fangio and largely dominated the world championship until the brand withdrew at the end of the season 1955.
In 14 Grand Prix, the W196 scored 10 victories,9 for Fangio and 1 for Stirling Moss, and allowed Fangio to be crowned world champion twice.

The body work is made of ash and the nails are of brass. The cockpit is covered with a ChenChen veener.
The wheels and tires are made of lime wood. The steering wheel is made of steel, brass and aluminium. The exhaust pipe is made of steel.
